Red Top Mountain State Park is far-and-away the largest and most fully-featured park on Lake Allatoona.

Its located on a large peninsula right in the center of the lake and directly opposite Allatoona Dam.

The park is also historically significant because during the 1864 Atlanta Campaign of the American Civil War, the Battle of Allatoona Pass was fought on a battlefield now within the park.

The park's popularity however comes from being near Atlanta, and just off of Interstate 75. It is an ideal place for swimming, boating, camping and fishing. It has large pavilions available for huge groups and small camping areas right on the water.

Visitors can bring their own boats or rent them from Park Marine inside the park.

There are also twelve miles of hiking trails that wind through the park. The park includes a lodge, restaurant and meeting facilities.
