Wakeboarding Tournament Coming to Allatoona in May |

 Dallas Landing Park on Lake Allatoona is getting ready for a major wakeboarding tournament in May.
Some of the sports most famous riders will be at the Pro Wakeboard Tour event in Acworth on the south end of the lake. |
Good News for Lake Allatoona |
 While Lake Lanier continues to struggle, Lake Allatoona has been refilling during the winter.
This good news comes because Lake Allatoona is many times smaller than Lake Lanier when it’s full, but its drainage area into it is just a little bit larger than Lake Lanier.

 Lake Allatoona's water level normally drops 17 feet in the winter as a flood control measure, but a lack of rainfall has pushed the lake even lower this year.
Rainfall at the end of December put the lake at 821 feet above sea level, only 2 feet below the mark it should be in winter, records show. Earlier in the season, the lake had been down more than 4 feet below normal.

Fishing guides on Lake Allatoona are increasingly insisting the blanket media coverage of Lake Allatoona's water shortage is unnecessarily driving away business.
So far this November, guide Robert Eidson has just 11 fishing trips scheduled. This time last year he worked 29 days in November.

Workers at Victoria Harbour have had to move every boat they had on the water to stop them from beaching.
Lake Allatoona is surrounded by beached boat docks and dry boat ramps - they didn't want to join the club.
Victoria Harbour officials say they are unsure how long the docks will need to stay in their unusual position. |

Lake Allatoona is now down 15 foot and falling a further foot every week.
Another seven feet down and the lake will be below the water level that the Corps of Engineers currently uses to draw out water for surrounding counties. |

Lake Allatoona is a beautiful lake just 30 miles to the north of Atlanta. It is the most popular lake in the country to be run by the Army Corps of Engineers. Over 6 million people per year come to go fishing, boating, camping and hunting.
The lake is on the Etowah River and supplies water to many of the surrounding cities, including Cartersville and Marietta. It is smaller than neighboring Lake Lanier but being just 40 minutes from Atlanta means the lake is busy throughout the summer.
